Bicycle Island
The Isle of Wight has been named by the Lonely Planet Travel Guide as one of the top 10 destinations in the world for cycling. They say the Island is a ‘cycling paradise’ and has ‘lush velvet hills rolling into the sea, narrow lanes through tidy hedgerows, deep and mysterious gullies and the IW’s most striking feature, the ridge of white chalk cliffs stretching across its breadth’.
With over 200 miles of cycle paths, exploring the Island’s beautiful landscape and rugged coastline couldn’t be easier. There are cycling routes to suit everyone, with a choice of challenging off-road bridleways, peaceful byways and level purpose-made tracks on former railway lines.

Martin’s cycling qualifications and experience
- British Cycling Level 1 and 2 Coach
- Indoor Cycling Studio Instructor
- Have always ridden a bike since the age of 3, the desire to road cycle came in 2012 after watching Bradley Wiggins win Le Tour De France
- Martin races and rides for the Isle of Wight’s top cycling team
- Riding across the South coast, Martin races at many events as well as sportive and time trials
- Martin also enjoys riding across Europe, including a 7 day training camp in Tenerife on Mount Teide, the tallest mountain in Europe – Chris Froome and his Sky Team train There.

To make sure you get the very best cycling experience, our team of qualified trail leaders have put together a series of recommended cycling routes, complete with easy to follow maps for every ability – from total beginners through to advanced cyclists.
All routes are colour coded according to their level of difficulty and the level of cycling experience or fitness required. Each route includes a detailed description so that you can judge the suitability of the route for your family or group.
