Good news…science wants you to pay a visit to the beach! Taking a breath of fresh air, a dip in the sea and a walk on the sand is certainly a pleasant way to spend your time. But a study has shown that not only do we like to be beside the seaside, but it may actually be good for us too, concluding that there is an association between visiting the shore and overall wellness…what better excuse to visit the Island and enjoy our beautiful beach hut sunsets?! Need convincing? Here’s five beach benefits… Relaxation Research shows that the sound of waves alters wave patterns in the brain, lulling you into a deeply relaxed state. Relaxing in this way can help rejuvenate the mind and body enabling you to switch off from stress. Sleep If you’ve ever wondered why you always sleep more soundly after spending a day on the beach, it’s because of the fresh sea air. Sea air is charged with healthy negative hydrogen ions that accelerate our ability to absorb oxygen by neutralising damageing free radicals (positive ions). Negative ions also balance levels of serotonin, the feel-good hormone linked with mood, stress and anxiety. This is why after a coastal holiday you feel more alert, relaxed and energised. A boost of vitamin D The reflection of the sun from the sand and sea is a great way to get your daily dose of vitamin D. As long as you have thoroughly applied your SPF, getting some sunshine everyday is really good for your health. Vitamin D from the sun improves auto-immune protection, increases endorphins and enhances bone health. Your skin absorbs vitamin D from the sun even with sunscreen – so pile it on and get outside! Healing salt water There is no greater healer than salt water. Swimming in the sea enhances the immune system, hydrates skin and boosts circulation. Sea water is rich in magnesium which has been shown to relax muscles and help induce sleep. Be inspired… Do you know that feeling of relaxation that overcomes your body when you dig your toes in the sand? It’s not in your head. The sea has been proven to inspire creative thinking, reduce anxiety and promote compassionate thinking!

All levels

These classes have been specifically designed to allow participants to work at their own intensity level, with the ability to modify all exercises according to their own personal fitness.

Beginner

A person new to training or an individual with below average fitness levels can be termed as a beginner. These classes are also suitable for those returning to exercise after a break/injury.

Intermediate

A person training at intermediate level should have a fair amount of base fitness and coordination and thus can be exposed to a higher intensity workout.

Advanced

At an advanced level, the participant should have experience in subjecting themselves to high intensity training on a regular basis. Every person starting off as a beginner should aspire to reach this level.
