Make time for relaxation

We need to give ourselves a break, and a little downtime works well for almost everybody. It doesn’t really matter what the activity or inactivity is. The idea is to give your body, mind, and heart a chance to relax and recharge. If you keep going at full speed every day, it can be really hard on you, both physically and mentally. We were not designed to go 24/7/365 (even though that’s become a popular modern-day mantra).

Stress causes a numerous amount of issues for your body. High blood pressure, headaches, muscle tension, ulcers, and weakened immune system are just a few of the many health issues stress can trigger. Relaxation helps counteract these effects by giving your body a chance to calm down!

Some people find it hard to relax or feel guilty for making time to simply relax. But relaxation is an important part of self care, so here are 4 ways that we would like to invite you to embrace relaxation – no matter how much time you have:

I have around 2 hours

Our two hour Relaxation Experience includes use of our beautiful indoor pool, sauna and steam room and time to relax in our “little room of calm” to read, snooze or simply do nothing at all.  After an initial consultation, our team will prescribe one of our Scentered therapy balms for you to use during your experience; designed so you can stop, inhale, reset and find your inner calm. Sit back and relax with a restoring Pukka Herbs organic tea to lift you, soothe you, and refresh you. Why not choose to add on a 30 minute Island Wellness Massage as an extra relaxing treat? Call our spa team on 01983 766202 to find out more or book.

I have an hour and a half

Join Jenny on Thursdays at 10am for her Yoga4Health Mindful sessions. You don’t have to be bendy for this class! Through practice you can learn to quieten the mind, reduce stress and increase your ability to focus. You become very aware of yourself, so you are able to self heal and prevent disease within your body. Learning the correct yoga relaxation techniques will flood the body with oxygen and as a result the muscles will release and the body will be able to fight fatigue. At the end of a class you should feel ‘worked’ but at the same time should be in a relaxed and peaceful state. A session is a little holiday from your everyday mind, combining elements of  qigong, a mindfulness gentle yin practice of movement for body focusing highly on slow movements cocooned by the breath. Our class finishes with a full yoga nidra so bring your blankets. Open to all levels, we can’t recommend this class highly enough, especially if you’ve never tried mindfulness or meditation before. Call our Country Club team on 01983 766222 to book your session.

I only have 10 minutes!

Stop, sit down and enjoy a cup of wellbeing boosting Pukka tea. Take the time to switch off completely for 10 precious minutes (put your phone down!). Use this time to take a few deep breathes and focus on what you are grateful for today. At the moment we are loving our Pukka Relax Tea –  a tea to help you step back, breathe and bathe in the tranquillity of chamomile flower and the peaceful bliss of oat flowering tops, fennel seed and marshmallow root. A perfect way to unwind during the day. Sit back in the Wellness Cafe for a few precious minutes and let stress drift away.

I have no time

Life takes over and sometimes, despite the best intentions our self care slips to the bottom of the ‘to do’ list and can get completely overlooked. Our Scentered balms can really help you stay centred no matter what life throws at you.  These portable aromatherapy balms can be taken anywhere with you and used anytime you feel you need a little wellbeing boost.  DE-STRESS is the perfect balm to keep  to hand and use when you need to soothe everyday tensions and ease the mind. Take comfort in DE-STRESS when dealing with the demands of modern life and the eternal juggle to keep it all in balance. Try the whole range at our Island Wellness Spa.

No matter how much time you have, make a little space in your day for a little relaxation and your body and mind will thank you for it.
