Not convinced that foam roller stretching is worth your time? Or perhaps you are not sure what foam roller stretching is? Read on to discover why foam rolling is the recovery tool many fitness fiends swear by… Classes focused on mobility and recovery, a new category in fitness, are on the rise.  This suggests that more and more people are striving to find not only work-life balance, but also workout balance. Our foam roller stretch class has been specifically designed to improve flexibility, reduce muscular stiffness, speed up recovery, alleviate pain and prevent musculoskeletal injuries. By utilising the foam roller, you are able to allow your own body weight to promote myofascial release and reduce pressure on trigger points, or myofascial adhesions. Fascia is a form of connective tissue that wraps and bundles muscles (myo) together. Myofascial adhesions can develop through stress, training, overuse, underuse, movement imbalances and injuries. They are essentially points of constant tension and addressing them can have a positive effect on your workouts. There's a decent amount of research out there on self-myofascial release that suggests it has positive effects ranging from increased flexibility to enhanced recovery.  Myofascial release will help maintain flexibility, power and strength.  Research has indicated that fascia, like muscle, contracts and relaxes and is a key player in joint mobility and stability. As we exercise and go through the course of daily life, injuries, stresses and strains can emerge, causing a tightening of the fascia. Myofascial release, like foam rolling, can lengthen the connective tissues surrounding the muscles, allowing our bodies to maintain or even regain flexibility, power and strength, while preventing future injuries.  By increasing circulation, the tissues will ultimately heal faster, which will allow you to move onto your next workout in a faster manner and in better condition. In our foam rolling classes you will learn a variety of different ways to use the foam roller. You will learn how to safely and effectively use the foam roller and perform self-myofascial release of trigger points and connective tissue. During the class you will practice rolling over different muscle groups slowly, stopping and holding on sore trigger points until the tension is released, usually achieved in 30 to 90 seconds. All levels

These classes have been specifically designed to allow participants to work at their own intensity level, with the ability to modify all exercises according to their own personal fitness.

Beginner

A person new to training or an individual with below average fitness levels can be termed as a beginner. These classes are also suitable for those returning to exercise after a break/injury.

Intermediate

A person training at intermediate level should have a fair amount of base fitness and coordination and thus can be exposed to a higher intensity workout.

Advanced

At an advanced level, the participant should have experience in subjecting themselves to high intensity training on a regular basis. Every person starting off as a beginner should aspire to reach this level.
