Acupuncture & Moxibustion

Acupuncture has been effectively used for the treatment of back pain, headache, migraine, and sports injuries. However, acupuncture provides more than pain relief. It is helpful in treating anxiety, insomnia, digestive problems, menstrual problems, weight control, infertility and much more.  Moxibustion is a form of heat therapy in which dried plant materials called “moxa” are burned on or very near the surface of the skin. The intention is to warm and invigorate the flow of Qi (your vital life-force energy) in the body and dispel certain pathogenic influences. When applied to acupuncture points that strengthen and lift the Qi, moxibustion can boost the immune system and help with pain, fatigue, digestive issues, and much more.

Shiatsu is a type of deep tissue massage. Like acupuncture, shiatsu aids the flow of energy through your body. Shiatsu works on the whole person — not just with the physical body, but also with the psychological, emotional and spiritual aspects of being.

Shiatsu can be used in the treatment of a wide range of internal, musculoskeletal, and emotional conditions. It is thought to reduce muscle stiffness, stimulate the skin, aid digestion, and influence the nervous system. Shiatsu is used to treat a wide range of chronic conditions, such as headaches, PMS, digestive disorders, fatigue, insomnia, fibromyalgia, stress, anxiety, and musculoskeletal pain, including low back, neck, and joint pain. Shiatsu supports and strengthens the body’s natural ability to heal and balance itself.  In Japanese, the term ‘shiatsu’ means ‘finger pressure’ but practitioners also employ at times forceful pressure applied by an elbow or other parts of the therapist’s anatomy, as well as manipulative techniques to adjust the patient’s body.
