Here are our team’s top tips to stay fit, no matter how busy life gets!
The power of intensity
If you are short on time, be smart by doing activities that deliver maximum intensity in minimum time. Circuit training is an ideal way to achieve this because it provides a series of intense exercises with little or no rest in between. The goal is to raise your heart rate while strengthening muscles. Short 10-minute bursts of exercise, accumulated over the course of the day, can add up to big fitness and health gains, give you more energy and improve your mood.
Be an early bird
Morning exercise allows you to cross your workout off your ‘to do’ list before your schedule gets too crowded. Good sleep is really important for overall health and weight-loss, so try to go to bed 30 minutes earlier so that you can get up and workout before your day starts! Working out in the morning has numerous benefits including regulating appetite, boosting energy and – perhaps the biggest benefit of all – it ensures that your workout is checked off first thing.
Cut down on media
How much time do you spend surfing the Internet, watching TV or playing games on your phone? Just a few minutes here and there can add up to an hour or more each day – cut out some of that screen time to squeeze exercise into even the busiest day. And if you simply can’t miss your favourite TV show, remember that doesn’t mean you can’t be doing push-ups, crunches, jumping jacks or squats at the same time!
Plus, our Technogym is equipped with five HDTV screens so you can catch up on the news while you work out.
Mix socialising with exercising
Do you normally spend time with your family or friends by going to dinner, watching sports on TV or going to the cinema? Make your social time more active by going for a walk, Zumba class or swimming together. There are so many options for squeezing more activity into your social calendar!
We have over 60 fitness classes a week, so there’s a class to suit everyone. Try out a Zumba class with friends, or join us for coffee morning tennis.
Make meals fool-proof
Nothing sabotages a stay-fit plan faster than the lure of easy processed meals and take-aways. Try to avoid high-sodium, high-fat food traps by planning meals in advance and setting aside time during the weekend to create a menu and shopping list for the upcoming week. On jam-packed days use a slow cooker so a healthy dinner is ready and waiting for you at the end of the day.
Don’t forget that our healthy deli salads and fresh juices are available to takeaway from the Bay Bistro too!
Positive mindset
Staying fit with a busy lifestyle is possible. With a bit of planning you can build and maintain the healthy body you deserve! Try not to think of exercise as another ‘to-do’ – instead, think of it as maintenance for your health and a way to de-stress and do something for you.
Personal training is a great way to make sure you reach your fitness goals. Our friendly and highly qualified trainers will work with you to develop a plan that suits your life and provide support to help you make a lasting change.
